The Berry College Black Student Association is encouraging members of the community to come out and walk Saturday (Oct. 20) to cap a week of HIV/AIDS Awareness.

The student group will hold its first AIDS Walk on campus at the Ford Complex from 1 to 3:30 p.m. This walk is open to the Berry College and Rome community. Interested persons can show up at 12:30 p.m. Saturday to sign up. Donations will be accepted at the walk.

The AIDS Week 2012 Theme is “Educate. Advocate. Embrace.” The students will also hold bake sales, host a speaker and a “Revel in Red” dance to raise awareness this week on campus.

“It is BSA’s hope that the Berry College community will be educated on a deeper level about HIV/AIDS as well as the ARC and the services that they provide,” said Multicultural and International Student Programs Director Tasha C. Toy.
