According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, 7 persons were caught on Thursday, Oct. 11, by the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit for possessing the controlled substance. They included Sabrina D. McFry, 36;, Melody B. Williamson, 32; Kerry D. Presnell, 24; Cody S. Thompson, 18; and Dillon D. Ocain, 20, all of Centre, who are being charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Thompson has an additional controlled substance charge for possession of methamphetamine. Two juveniles were also arrested for possession of the synthetic marijuana, Shaver said.
Investigators determined the illegal drugs were purchased from a store in Georgia and transported into Cherokee County. Sheriff Shaver wants to make the public aware these drugs are not legal and possession or distribution of synthetic cannabis is a felony and carries the same penalty as possession or distribution of methamphetamine, cocaine, or heroin. This arrest was made possible by information received by concerned citizens.
