AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say a South Carolina man is facing a murder charge in the shooting of a relative at University Hospital in Augusta.

The Augusta Chronicle reports that 85-year-old Charles William Gorrell of Aiken County, S.C., was being held without bond at the Richmond County Jail.

Authorities say 59-year-old Tim Grooms was shot in a patient's room in the hospital on Tuesday.

Richmond County sheriff's Capt. Scott Peebles says Grooms is the nephew of Gorrell's wife, who was being treated for an undisclosed condition. He said the two men had been in a longstanding dispute over family members.

Gorrell was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, in addition to the murder count. Jail records do not indicate whether he has an attorney.
