Golfers will have a chance next month to play with members of the Atlanta Braves organization and help support injured veterans.

The Rome Braves and Floyd County Police Department are sponsoring the 4th annual Braves Celebrity Shootout golf tournament on Friday, Nov. 9 at Stonebridge Golf Club.

“We certainly have a lot of fans, sponsors and friends of the Braves who contribute to this tournament every year and we’re thankful for them,” said Rome Braves General Manager Mike Dunn.

“It’s a great time to get together for a great cause and talk a little baseball in November.”

The tournament will be a scramble with teams of four competing for prizes and getting to play a hole with celebrity participants like Rome Braves manager Randy Ingle, former Rome Braves manager and current Gulf Coast Braves manager Rocket Wheeler and Atlanta Braves third base coach Brian Snitker.

“The partnership between the Floyd County Police Department and the Braves is a symbol of how we are all in one community and we look to give back to that community in any way possible,” Dunn said.

All proceeds from this year’s tournament will be go towards Wounded Warrior Project, which provides support services for injured military veterans and their families.

“This is going to be a good thing and it’s something we look forward to each year,” said Sgt. Gary Conway with the Floyd County Police. “We want to do this to give back to our soldiers and veterans for the service they have given us.”

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. Breakfast and lunch are included with registration and hole sponsors and donations are being sought.

The deadline to register is Nov. 4 and space is limited, as the tournament has reached capacity in the past.

For more information contact the State Mutual Stadium ticket office at 706-369-9388 or Conway at 706-235-7766.
