Goats released on NC high school football field

SHELBY, N.C. (AP) — A small herd of goats caused plenty of problems for a North Carolina high school hoping to play a home football game on senior night.

The Shelby Star reports (http://bit.ly/SaJHgg) that nearly a dozen goats were released in the Burns High School stadium in Cleveland County Thursday night or Friday morning.

School officials say the goats caused enough of a mess to force the game against Rutherfordton-Spindale Central to be moved.

The prank raised concern because of a recent outbreak of E. coli cases associated with the Cleveland County Fair west of Charlotte this month. Burns Athletic Director Eddy Taylor said health department officials came to the school and told them the game would have to be moved.

Other activities scheduled at Burns on Friday also had to be moved.

Diaper odor gets mom, baby kicked off Seattle bus

SEATTLE (AP) — A woman is complaining to the public transit authority that a driver kicked her off a bus in Seattle because of her baby's stinky diaper.

Nichole Hakimian was taking her 1-year-old son to a clinic Tuesday because of an intestinal illness, KOMO News reported (http://is.gd/12kPyR ).

"He had just pooped in his diaper as soon as I got on, because he was having diarrhea," she said. "And right after that, she told me I had to get off the bus."

When Hakimian asked why she said the Metro Transit driver said, "Your baby, he smells really bad, and it's not fair that we all have to smell that."

"I said, 'My son is sick. I'm taking him to a doctor's appointment.'"

Nonetheless, the driver stopped the bus and let her out about a half mile from the clinic, she said.

Hakimian, who is four months pregnant, found a nearby place to change the diaper. She caught another bus to the clinic and learned her baby was suffering from a stomach bug.

She complained to Metro, and the King County transit agency is investigating.

"Based on reports, this appears to be a very unique situation. Our goal is always to balance the comfort of all of our riders with providing good customer service. We are investigating the complaint, and will get a report from the driver to confirm what happened and that proper procedures were followed," spokesman Jeff Switzer said in a statement to KOMO.

The bus ride made her feel sick, too, Hakimian said.

"I feel like I was being discriminated against and bullied. And it made me feel like crap. It really did," she said

Police: Sword used to break up fight on Ariz. rail

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Police say an unidentified man used a Samurai sword in order to stop a fight on the light rail in Arizona.

KSAZ-TV reports (http://bit.ly/RhOYk3) that the man pulled out his weapon after a fight broke out early Saturday morning.

Passenger Juan Vargas says passengers all got quiet when the man pulled out the sword to break up the would-be brawl.

Vargas says he took a video of the sword-wielding man and posted it on You Tube.

Valley Metro and Phoenix Police are investigating the case but no arrests have been made.

Valley Metro officials say they have increased security during their late night service.
