“All of these very active board members are involved in all aspects of the United Way fund raising campaign and our community. The time and talents each brings to this board is tremendous and certainly makes a difference for our 18 United Way agencies,” Vickie Spence, Executive Director of the United Way, said.
The first major company to report their campaign results was Shaw Industries. Shaw Industries concluded their campaign, and came in with 70 percent of the employees in Gordon County contributing to United Way.
The Gordon County Shaw employees led the entire northwest Georgia area in participation at the local plants by 10 percent.
This commitment to United Way raised almost $100,000.00 from the employees through their payroll deduction plan for giving to United Way.
The campaign will continue through the end of the year with the anticipated goal of $550,000.00 to be met again this year.
Tax-deductible contribution may be sent to United Way of Gordon County P.O. Box 486 Calhoun, Ga. 30703.
