Evening shows are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. in the E.H. Young Theatre on campus.
“Letters to Sala,” written by Arlene Hutton, is a new play about one girl’s courage, determination, and perseverance. Based on a true story, the play revolves around 352 letters that Sala Garncarz Kirschner collected during her time in Nazi work camps from 1940 to 1946.
Berry junior Hannah Ausband composed original music for the production. Ausband, of Suwanee, Ga., is a music major with a concentration in music theory and composition.
“Letters to Sala is simply a story worth telling. I really enjoy using music to tell stories, so naturally I was excited and honored to have been given the opportunity to do so for this play. Ultimately, my main hope is that it will move people and cause them to question the realities in which we are living,” she said.
Following the show Berry Assistant Professor of History Matthew Stanard will be hosting a “talk back night” event for audience members who wish to stay. He’ll provide more in-depth information regarding the play and historical period. The audience may ask questions of the professor or select cast members as well.
