A Rome man was in jail Saturday night after he allegedly struck a victim in the face and damaged items inside of the victim’s room at the Royal Inn at 1201 Martha Berry Blvd. earlier in the day, according to a Floyd County Jail report.

According to the report:

Tyrone Strickland Jr., 22, of 9 Butler St., allegedly broke a chair and microwave, and punched a hole in the motel room. The strike caused the victim’s right eye to swell, and there was a visible laceration underneath the left eye. Once in the police vehicle, Strickland attempted to kick the passenger rear window out.

Strickland was charged with felony interference with government property criminal attempt, misdemeanor public drunk and disorderly conduct.
