According to the Ringgold Police Department, the incident took place about 6:45 p.m. Oct. 24. Two armed intruders in their early 20s entered the home of a 70-year-old man while he was sitting on his couch watching television.
“The victim stated that he was sitting on the couch when two Hispanic males entered his house via the front door that was closed, but not locked,” officer Tom Evans said. “He stated that the two men approached him from both sides, and that both were armed with knives.”
The victim informed police that as the duo continued to move closer to him, one of the men repeatedly asked “where are the pills,” after he used his knife to cut the victim’s nearby telephone line.
“The victim replied to the offenders that he didn’t have any pills,” Evans said. “He (the victim) said that he then moved forward on the couch seat.”
While the intruder kept insisting on information about possible pills in the house, the victim reached under the sofa and offered up his own solution to the problem by stating “How about I blow your heads off?”
At that time, the victim says, the two suspects ran out of the home, and were seen driving off in a white or silver-colored passenger vehicle.
The victim stated that one of the men was wearing a white baseball cap, while the other man had very short brown hair. The report was unclear whether the victim was armed or produced a firearm.
Anyone with information regarding the case or the suspects is encouraged to contact the Ringgold Police Department at 706-935-3066.

It was my poor old mother that had to endure all this. I have better things to do with my time than tell something that isn't true. It happened the way I said. Period.
Also, it never ceases to amaze me that when someone posts something on a discussion, there is always a troll lurking nearby to flog anyone who dares post their opinion!
My mother tried to keep an intruder out of her house by showing him her pistol (1909 S&W .32 short) that belonged to her father. My mother was in her 80s. The intruder kicked the door open anyhow. The door hit her and as she was falling backward, the gun discharged and the bullet hit the intruder by the left nostril. He died almost instantly.
The police tried to "hang" her. She had to hire a lawyer, costing her $7800. and it went before the Grand Jury 3 times before one of the policemen admitted that they had been called as many as 8 times on this person for harassing her. He was the ex-husband of her grand-daughter who was living there.
The point is: You aren't automatically "off the hook" if you have to use deadly force to defend yourself in your own home. Don't believe anything else! It all depends on the police where you live!
