I like people who are pleasant to be with, people who treat others with respect, even if they don’t always agree with them. I like people who can tell a joke as well as take a joke. I like people who aren’t easily offended and yet don’t intentionally offend anyone. But, I don’t choose a doctor, a dentist, a plumber, preacher, teacher, butcher, baker or a candlestick maker based on whether or not I like them. Of course, it does help. I choose any one for any job based upon whether or not I believe that they are the best person for the job. I choose someone I can trust to do the right thing and do the thing right.
Soon, we will choose someone to lead our nation for the next four years. Should we choose someone we like, or someone who is charismatic, someone who is good-looking, or someone who is a good debater? You know, a good debater can debate either side of an issue, equally. Maybe we should choose someone who is younger, or maybe someone who is older? Someone who is bigger, or stronger, or faster, or whatever else? No, we should select someone we can trust. We should select someone who has a better understanding of the problems we face with our economy, unemployment, deficit spending, social security, health care, welfare, education, our defense system, terrorism, and our relations with our allies as well as our enemies around the world.
We should choose someone who has a better plan to deal with these issues, as well as work with the Senate, Congress, and judicial system. Someone who will lead our nation as we determine what kind of a world we want to leave for future generations. If, or when, the United States falls, and things are not looking real good at this time, it will not be at the hands of our enemies: the terrorists, the Chinese, the Russians, Iran, North Korea, etc., ... it will be because we have abandoned the Christian principles upon which our nation was founded. It will be because we have become unwilling to struggle, sacrifice, fight, and even die if necessary for what we know is right and to preserve this great nation for our descendants.
In other words, “We have found the enemy and it is us,” Be sure to vote right on Nov. 6.
