The first basketball games in Georgia Highlands College history are officially in the books. GHC traveled to East Mississipi Community College in Scooba, Miss., on Thursday night, and came home with a split decision.

The Lady Chargers were victorious in their first ever game in program history as they defeated the Lady Lions 84-60. Gabrielle Kendall led the Lady Chargers with 18 points.

Seandre Lee scored 17, Amber Curtis had 14, and Manon Cherubini and Shanique Holston each scored 12 points.

The Chargers had a much tougher task as they faced a Lions team that made the Sweet 16 last year, and was the No. 8-ranked team in the preseason poll. The men’s team fell to to Lions 97-57.

Damon Mitchell led the Chargers with 21 points, Femi Ojuolape added 16 points.

The Lady Chargers (1-0) and Chargers (0-1) next action will be Sunday as they host Wallace State in the first-ever home games on the GHC campus.
