A Rome man was charged Friday morning with seven counts of identification fraud, seven counts of fraudulent attempts to obtain refund and seven counts of criminal receipt of goods and services fraudulently obtained, according to Floyd County Jail reports.

According to the reports: Christopher Lee Cook, 22, of 679 Old Summerville Road, was charged after he allegedly took money from seven victims at Sam’s Club at 2550 Redmond Circle in Rome.

Cook took a total of $470.62 from the victims by pretending he upgraded their packages at Sam’s Club. He took the money as though he was making the transaction, but when the victims left, he canceled the upgrades and kept the money for himself. On some occasions, he forged the victims’ signatures on their receipts.

He remained in jail Friday without bond.
