A report of a vehicle wreck led police to arrest a man who had an outstanding warrant in Tennessee, according to Floyd County Jail and Rome police reports.

According to the reports:

Patrick Varnell Garrett, 38, of 920 Kingston Highway, Kingston, was charged with felony fugitive from justice after police discovered he had a felony theft warrant in Hamilton County, Tenn.

Police had originally been called to an wreck on Calhoun Avenue on Friday night but were unable to locate the vehicle until they found it, along with Garrett, at the corner of North Avenue and Calhoun Avenue.

Garrett said that the vehicle had lost power and ran into a ditch but he was able to drive it out. A check on him showed the warrant.
