Two people were taken to a local hospital just before 7 p.m. Monday after a driver apparently fell asleep at the wheel of her car on Ga. 140, police said.

According to Sgt. Chad Johnson with the Floyd County police:

The female driver of the vehicle is thought to have fallen asleep causing the vehicle to veer off the road and down an embankment near Buttram Road. The vehicle was traveling westbound on the two-lane highway.

Two of the four individuals in the vehicle were taken to Floyd Medical Center, one suffering from visible facial lacerations, the other with an injury complaint.
