Berry College to host healthcare debate

ROME, Ga. - Two scholars will visit Berry College Thursday to debate the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act.

Michael Debow of Samford University's Cumberland School of Law and David Ryden of Hope College will examine the Supreme Court decision. Debow received his bachelor's and master's degrees in economics from the University of Alabama. He graduated from the Yale Law School in 1980 and is a member of the District of Colombia Bar. He taught at the University of Georgia business school, where he taught for two years prior to teaching at Samford University's Cumberland School of Law.

Ryden received his bachelor's degree from Concordia College, his law degree from the University of Minnesota, and his doctorate from The Catholic University of America. His areas of specialization are religion and politics, American constitutionalism, and parties and elections.

The discussion will be at 7 p.m. in Evans Auditorium and is free and open to the public.
