Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cearley of Danielsville announce the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth Faye Cearley, to James Patrick McShane. The groom-elect is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Burton of Rome and Dr. and Mrs. Patrick McShane of Clarkesville.

The bride-to-be is a 2006 graduate of Prince Avenue Christian School in Athens, and a 2010 graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Child and Family Development. Miss Cearley is currently attending the Medical College of Georgia and will have completed her Master of Science degree in Nursing by Dec. 2012.

She is the sister of Tim Cearley and Anna Cearley Richt of Athens, and Rachel Cearley Swanson of Gainesville. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Scottie Thompson of Athens, Mrs. Lessie Cearley of Grove, Okla., the late Eugene Thompson and the late Rev. Charles Cearley.

The groom-elect is a 2005 cum laude graduate of Darlington School, and a cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia in 2010 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

He is currently employed at State Mutual Insurance Company in Rome and is the brother of Harris Burton of Rome, and Kendall McShane and Kelsey Nipper of Clarkesville. He is the grandson of Lorena Webster of Rome, Mr. and Mrs. Griffin Burton of Rome, the late Dr. A.J. Webster and the late Mr. and Mrs. H.P. McShane.

The wedding will be held at the University of Georgia Chapel in Athens on Dec. 15, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. with a reception to follow at the Foundry Park Inn.
