One of those arrested in a 2009 large-scale sting into a car theft ring was sentenced Thursday in federal court, according to documents.

Bradley Miller, of West Meadow Lakes Blvd., Cedartown, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Rome by Judge Robert L. Vining Jr. to serve 18 months incarcerated and to pay $45,519.40 restitution. He must also pay a $100 assessment fee and will serve three years supervised released with special and standard conditions of release, according to court documents.

Miller had pleaded guilty in June to one of the eight charges against him. The plea was to one count of operating a “chop shop," according to court documents. The other seven charges were also for running a facility to make money on stolen cars with each charge relating to a different and specific vehicle, court documents state.

Polk County police originally arrested Miller Oct. 6, 2009. He was initially charged with two counts of theft by receiving stolen property and altering a vehicle identification number.

Local police officials said the case was taken over by federal authorities as the investigation grew.

A total of 14 people were arrested during the sting, including three law enforcement officers.
