As with most large events, this could not have happened without help from a myriad of volunteers. To all volunteers who helped either day or both days, a huge thank you for taking your weekend to make the races go off without a hitch. Redmond Regional EMS and Floyd County EMA were especially helpful with race logistics and safety. Berry College was gracious to let their main and mountain campuses be used for the Sunday race and the comments from riders of the beautiful fall leaves, the trails, and the general beauty of the campus were overwhelmingly positive.
RACE Rome exists to support local charities through multi-sport events and these races were no exception. Saturday’s proceeds went to support the wonderful efforts of William James and his staff at Summit Quest Adventures. Summit Quest’s mission is to provide strength, hope and service to children and families affected by cancer.
Sunday’s proceeds went to support the efforts of Rich Lampkin and his team at the Rome/Floyd County United Way. In 2012 RACE Rome donated more than $40,000 to charities in Rome and Floyd County.
