Last season saw Shorter win a school record 34 games, which included being 15-0 at home. This season started on the same foot; with another home win in convincing fashion, beating visiting Knoxville College 92-49.

The Hawks (1-1) quickly established a double-digit lead, one that allowed the Hawks to go into halftime up by 27 points, 46-19. Several times in the second half Shorter would double the point total of the Bulldogs.

Anthony Banks, a NAIA All-American, had a first half double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds, on his way to scoring 21 points to lead all scorers on the night. Shorter was in command for the entire night, allowing Banks to play only six minutes after the intermission.

The first half lead was aided by 47-percent shooting for the Hawks compared to the 21 percent for the visiting Bulldogs.

C.J. Davis scored 12 points, with nine in the first half, including going 2-of-4 from 3-point range, including one in the 16-8 run to start the second half. Davis is coming off of a 25-point performance in the season opener at Saint Leo over the weekend.

Brandon Pullman pulled down 10 rebounds, including nine on the defensive side to deny second-chance points to the visitors. He also added nine points while going 3 for 10 from the field, and 2-2 from the line.

Kenny Leverette counted for a game high five assists and six rebounds, all on the defensive glass. His assist total outnumbered Knoxville as a team, while being part of 26 total assists on the night for the Hawks.

Shorter received 39 points from the bench. Daniel Howell, a freshman from Athens, led the Hawks bench in scoring with 10, which included going 2-for-3 from 3-point range and adding two rebounds. Devance Harris came off the bench to help the rebounding efforts, adding four over 14 minutes of duty.

Shorter plays next on Saturday at Young Harris at 4 p.m. Shorter beat Young Harris last season, 90-72 as part of the undefeated home record.
