Police say juvenile shot in leg

A Silver Creek allegedly shot a rifle while intoxicated, injuring a minor on Sunday evening, according to a Floyd County Jail report.

According to the report:

Ennio Arcides Melara-Martinez, 31, of 3744 Rockmart Highway, went onto the victim’s property on Jack Street without permission. He fired a .22-caliber Glenfield rifle, shooting a minor in the right calf. The victim was taken to Floyd Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.

Melara-Martinez tested positive for alcohol at the scene and was charged with a felony count of cruelty to children and misdemeanors criminal trespass, reckless conduct and discharging a firearm while intoxicated.

He was released Monday on bond.
