The Cartersville Police Department has been called in to investigate a complaint that a Cartersville High School teacher had inappropriate contact with a student.

According to the Cartersville Police Department:

The incidents allegedly occurred from October 15 through November 8 of this year.

The teacher has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation both by the school system and the police department.

“The principle launched an investigation into this matter immediately upon being notified by the victim," said Chief Thomas N. Culpepper. "We are cooperating with the school system in the investigation. Due to the age of the victim and the fact that at this time the teacher is only considered to be a suspect, no further information is being released.”

No charges have been filed yet.

Unfortunately, the Cartersville City School's attorney, Harry White, is also the Cartersville City Judge. The Cartersville Police have to appear before him for their arrests so, so much for an impartial investigation and the appearance of impartiality.

Unfortunately, principals are mandated reporters, NOT INVESTIGATORS. They are required to report suspected child abuse, not investigate it! The investigations are reserved for the authorities, i.e., POLICE and/or DFACS. Principals have been convicted of misdemeanors for just such behavior all over the country. FAILURE TO REPORT SUSPECTED CHILD ABUSE BY A "MANDATED REPORTER" is a crime all over the country, regrettably it is just a misdemeanor in Georgia. There is another case pending in Cartersville that never got reported by the media because of just that.
