UPDATE:A two-vehicle wreck Wednesday afternoon on the Rome Bypass resulted in two people being taken to the hospital.

According to Floyd County police Sgt. Chad Johnson:

A dark blue Ford Expedition driven by Marvin Inman of Rome was traveling westbound on the bypass just before 5 p.m. when it collided with a silver Dodge truck driven by William Jones of Rome.

Jones was going eastbound on the bypass and attempting to turn left onto Old Calhoun Road when the front of the Expedition ran into the front passenger side of the Dodge truck.

The Expedition ran off of the road and into a ditch while the truck was spun around and came to rest facing northwest in the median close to the intersection.

Johnson said both drivers claimed to have the green light but witnesses said that while the light was green to go straight, there was no arrow given for the truck.

Inman and his wife, who was his passenger, were taken to the hospital, with Inman suffering from a leg injury and his wife complaining of minor injuries.

Both Jones and the passenger of the truck refused medical treatment at the scene. Jones was cited for failure to yield at an intersection.
