Mrs. Tannika King Wester
The bride is the daughter of Debbie Balmer and Jean Plamondon of Noyan, Quebec, Canada, and Robin P. King of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She is the granddaughter of Lawanna Mobley Balmer of Flowery Branch, Lois King-Ford and George Ford of Edmonton and the late Spencer E. Balmer.
The groom is the son of Laura Lindman Adams of Rome and John W. Wester of Hamlet, N.C. He is the brother of Lindman Josephine “Lindy” Adams of Rome and the grandson of Sue Camp Adams of Rome, the late John W. Wester Sr., the late John W. Adams and the late Lucy Burkhalter Wester.
The Hon. Jason Lewis of Rome performed the double-ring ceremony. The front doors of the chapel featured two wreaths adorned with ivory roses, baby’s breath, and pearl and rhinestone brooches. The chapel pews were marked with ivory tulle bows. The processional song was Johann Pachelbel’s “Canon in D,” played by pianist Donna Hester. The bride entered to a recording of New York Symphony Orchestra playing an instrumental introduction to “Both Hands.” The recessional included Robert Burns’ traditional Scottish favorites, “My Love She’s But a Lassie Yet” and “A Man’s a Man for A’ That,” played by bagpiper Joe Dunaway.
Carrie Watterson of Rome was the matron of honor, with Lorri-Anna Tate of Montgomery, Ala., and Nicole Noth of Rome serving as maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Jena Owens of Cedartown and Christi Brown of Rome. Attendants wore their choice of chiffon gowns in shades of grey, dusty pink and ivory, and matching rhinestone hair accessories, a gift from the bride. They carried baby’s breath bouquets with pearl and rhinestone brooches at the base.
The flower girls were Emma Peschel, Layla Shealy and Annie Watterson, all of Rome. Emma and Layla wore matching floor-length, sleeveless, ivory lace dresses with an ivory bow in the back, accented by a small pearl and rhinestone button in the center of each bow. Their accessories included ivory flower halos and matching rhinestone bracelets, gifts from the bride. They carried hand-painted wooden boxes of ivory rose petals that read “Here Comes the Bride.” Annie wore a tea-length, ivory, A-line silk taffeta dress with ruffled bottom and carried a baby’s breath tussie mussie with a pearl and rhinestone brooch at the base. In her hair, she wore an ivory flower clip with a rhinestone in the center, a gift from the bride.
Blake Owens of Cedartown was the best man. Groomsmen were Wes Peschel of Rome and Ryan Speck of Nashville, Tenn. They wore charcoal grey tuxedoes with solid silver ties and vests, while the groom’s vest and tie featured a silver on silver pattern. Their boutonnieres were ivory roses surrounded by baby’s breath.
Tripp Watterson of Rome, the ring bearer, wore a charcoal grey tuxedo with a solid silver vest and bowtie and a baby’s breath boutonniere. He carried a hand-painted wooden box with a “W” engraved on top.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her mother, the bride wore an ivory taffeta drop-waist strapless gown with a sweetheart neckline and a beaded sash. The gown featured a fitted bodice that flowed into an A-line silhouette with a full skirt made of ruffled organza and a chapel train. The look was completed by an ivory waist-length veil with beading around the edges, pearl and rhinestone earrings, and a multi-strand twisted pearl and rhinestone necklace. She carried a brooch bouquet made by her mother,
which featured ivory silk flowers and silver, rhinestone and pearl brooches.
The mother of the bride wore a knee-length beige gown with a beaded bodice and tiered chiffon layers on the bottom. The mother of the groom wore a floor-length blue and white chiffon gown.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Rome Area History Museum. Refreshments included the bride’s three-tiered cake, adorned with ribbon, pearl and rhinestone buttons, and surrounded by ivory roses and baby’s breath. The top layer was red velvet while the bottom two layers were vanilla with raspberry filling. The groom’s tiered rice krispie cake, made by his mother, had a Georgia Bulldogs theme.
The evening before the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Bella Roma Grill in Rome. Other pre-nuptial parties included an engagement dinner, hosted by the bridesmaids at Truffles Café in Atlanta; a miscellaneous bridal shower, given by the bridesmaids at The Lookout Restaurant in Cloudland; a miscellaneous bridal shower, given by Nancy Ivester and the bride’s grandmother, Lawanna Balmer, at Mrs. Ivester’s home in Rome; a miscellaneous bridal shower, given by the bride’s co-workers, Anne Paige Wilson and Julie Lucas, at Mrs. Wilson’s home in Rome; a stock the bar party, hosted by the bride and groom at their home; a bachelor party in Atlanta, hosted by the groomsmen; a bachelorette weekend in St. George Island, Fla., hosted by the bridesmaids; and a bridesmaids’ luncheon, hosted by the bride at Yummy Thai Cuisine in Rome.
After a wedding trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica, the couple resides in Rome.
