Beginning Friday, Rome audiences can watch the classic Christmas tale come to life on the Rome Little Theatre stage at the historic Desoto Theatre in downtown Rome.
The show will run this weekend and the weekend of Dec. 7, with Friday and Saturday performances starting at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m.
Based on Charles Dickens’ novel of the same name, “A Christmas Carol” tells the traditional story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a stingy, selfish, and cold businessman whose cruel demeanor is tested when he is visited by three ghosts on Christmas Eve.
The ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future demonstrate to old Scrooge the his innocent past, the effects his actions have on those around him in the present, and what will become of his future if he continues his miserly ways. These encounters change Scrooge’s heart toward Christmas, his family and his neighbors, including his underpaid and overworked clerk, Bob Cratchit.
Directed by David Clonts and produced by Suzanne Clonts, the show features Brian Hales as Scrooge, Wain Bates as the narrator, Michael Hillman as Fred, Brian Inman as Bob Cratchit, and Zach Gurley as Tiny Tim.
