Lisa Landry of Living and Giving on 940 Broad St. tells us a little about her business.

What is the primary purpose of your business? We have found a need for a home décor store within the community of Rome and we try our best to fill that need.

What is the business background of the owners?
My husband and I combined have over 60 years of retail  experience.  My husband had a sporting goods business in Boston and this is my fourth small business.

Why did you start (or purchase) this particular business?
We saw a need in the community for a store like this.

What makes your business unique?
Our employees, our location, because we are surrounded by windows and the fact that we sell beautiful plants and orchids, home décor, small gifts, furniture, home accents and gourmet food all in a very small space.

What do you enjoy most about your chosen profession?
Meeting my customers and working with my employees, without question. I love the environment that I work in, I think it is the most beautiful environment that a  person could ask for. I’m surrounded by beautiful plants and lovely things and people that have unbelievable personalities.  We smile and have fun all day.

What has been the biggest or most interesting challenge to overcome as a small business owner?
For me, the biggest challenge is not being able to find a suitable, larger location where we can expand our business in this town, on Broad Street.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
If they haven’t come in to Living & Giving yet they ust need to stop in and shop here because it’s a unique experience for Rome.
