Catoosa County leaders are working on a wish list of projects for a proposed $56 million special purpose, local option sales tax package.

Sewer and road projects, police cars, fire stations and improved recreational areas were all on the agenda at a SPLOST work session last week.

County Commissioner Jim Cutler said an initial list tallied up toward the $160 million mark but is being whittled down.

“At this point, we’re just trying to be fair and consider all the requests, but still be very, very frugal at the same time with the money,” he said.

An expansion of the current detention center to combat overcrowding also is under consideration.
