Tallapoosa man faces theft charges

A man who was arrested earlier this year on drug charges was in jail Wednesday facing more charges stemming from the Jan. 4 incident, according to Floyd County Jail reports.

According to the reports:

Shannon Martin Smith, 33, of 492 Salem Church Road, Tallapoosa, was charged with felony theft by receiving after he was found in possession of several items reported stolen out of Cedartown when he and another man were arrested on the 1600 block of Gadsden Highway in Cave Spring.

Smith was reported as having tools, a forklift extension, scales and a mandrel valued at more than $500 together at the time of his initial arrest in January.

He was also charged with felony failure to appear and had a hold for Haralson County.
