FORT OGLETHORPE — The former band director of Lakeview Middle School in Fort Oglethorpe has been arrested on child molestation charges.

Thomas Blevins, who resigned following allegations he had sent inappropriate text messages to a female student, was arrested Tuesday night in Dunlap, Tenn., in Sequatchie County.

Blevins is being held in the Sequatchie jail on charges, brought by the Catoosa Sheriff’s Office, of aggravated child molestation, false imprisonment and two counts of child molestation. Blevins, band director at Lakeview Middle School for the past six years, was suspended by the Catoosa school system Nov. 27. He resigned prior to a hearing that was scheduled to determine his fate at the school.
