Report: Rome man stole car, gave false name to officer

A Rome man was in jail Saturday night after he allegedly took a vehicle from a Pearl Street residence, according to Floyd County Jail reports.

According to the report:

Terrell Eugene Edmondson, 32, of 301 Camp St., Apt. B, took the car and turned out to be unlicensed, along with having an open container of alcohol in the car when he was pulled over by police.

He then gave officers a false name and birth date and also signed one citation with the false name.

Edmondson was charged with felony counts of theft of an automobile and false statements and writings, two counts of misdemeanor giving false name and birth date to a law enforcement officer, misdemeanor driving without a license and misdemeanor open container violation.

He remained in jail due to a probation violation.
