GRAYSON, Ga. (AP) — Police in Gwinnett County say a 14-year-old boy is dead after being shot during an apparent robbery inside the home he lived in.

Police department spokesman Jake Smith says a relative of the victim found the boy's body inside a home in Grayson around 2:40 p.m. Wednesday and called police.

Authorities Wednesday evening identified the teen as Paul Sampleton and say he was a student at Grayson High School. Police say Sampleton was released early because the school held a half-day.

Smith says police found evidence of a robbery and it was not immediately clear where the boy was wounded. Smith says there was no evidence of forced entry to the home and police were preparing a search warrant for the house Wednesday evening.

Additional details were not immediately available.
