An indictment released Thursday charges Gospel Tabernacle Church Bishop Wiley Jackson and his brother Rodney with eight counts of violating the Georgia Uniform Securities Act.
DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James says the men asked church members to invest in a company in 2002 without being licensed to do so. The company, Genesis LLC, was not registered with the Secretary of State.
Authorities say they did not learn of the investments until 2009.
A call to Jackson's church was not answered and his office voicemail was full. Jackson's Gospel Tabernacle Churches operate in Atlanta, Fayetteville, Stone Mountain and Griffin.
