ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say metal thieves are suspected of stealing 41 lightning rods from the parking deck of a hospital in Athens.

Police say the rods are valued at $1,450. Athens-Clarke County police tell The Athens Banner-Herald that the devices were stolen from Athens Regional Medical Center's parking deck on Talmadge Drive.

Police say a security guard realized the lightning rods were missing Wednesday, but could not recall when he last saw them.
