The 67-room hotel opened in 1999. Last November, Jameson filed a bankruptcy petition which was the result of what corporate officials claimed was a highly complicated financial structure. However, the bankruptcy did not have any impact on day-to-day operations of the Jameson hotels in Rome, Calhoun or Dalton, all operated by the Park Management Group.
Greater Rome Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Lisa Smith said she feels like the change to the Quality flag, one of the Choice Hotels group, would be beneficial. “The GM there (Darwin) is a great guy,” Smith said. “I think it will mean he gets the support and upgrades he needs,”
Smith said the when she initially met with some of the Quality Inn executives when they were on site visits to Rome she felt like they were very receptive to some ides regarding changes for the property. “I’m real anxious to see what kind of upgrades will be made,” Smith said.
The Jameson Inn in Dalton became a Howard Johnson Inn on Dec. 5, while the Calhoun hotel became a Baymont Inn and Suites property less than two weeks ago.
The Quality Inn is part of the Choice Hotels chain, which includes Comfort Inns and Comfort Suites, both with a presence in Rome. The Comfort Suites is a 64-unit hotel at 23 Chateau Drive while the Comfort Inn is a 51-unit hotel at 2209 Shorter Avenue.
