A release Saturday from the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office reported that agents with the FBI, local drug task force and Cartersville police officers arrested four people on drug and weapons charges after they were caught in a sting operation trying to sell a fully-automatic AR-15.

According to the release:

Michael Justice Stafford, 30, along with Jason Todd Tijerina, 30, Tira Anne Scrivani, 22, and Curtis Tom Everett, 31, all of Cartersville addresses, were jailed after the combined agencies conducted a search warrant at Stafford’s residence.

The release stated that police were initially tipped off about the Erwin Street residence after a “concerned citizen contacted law enforcement” after he believed he purchased a stolen handgun from a Craigslist ad.

After investigating and authorities set up a sting operation to purchase a fully automatic Panther AR-15 the seller claimed to have for sale and moved in for the arrest.

Upon conducting the search warrant, police found two stolen weapons, a quantity of methamphetamines and cash. The release stated the firearms found were taken in a burglary and auto theft in December.

The four remained in jail, all on felony charges of possession of methamphetamine. Stafford was also charged with two counts of theft by receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Stafford also had an active arrest warrant for probation and child support violations.

Tijerina was also charged with two counts of theft by receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He also had active warrants for burglary, theft by deception and probation violations.

Bartow authorites reported that they are continuing their investigation and expect more arrests “in the near future.”
