LAFAYETTE — A man from Summerville died in a three-car wreck Friday in Walker County.

Aaron Michael Dooley was traveling north along U.S. 27 when his vehicle crossed the center turn lane and continued into oncoming traffic just north of the Black Circle intersection.

The cause for the vehicle veering into traffic has not been determined yet, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The medical examiner will determine if recent ongoing medical problems led to the crash, according to trooper Andy Gideon.

At 2:50 p.m. Dooley’s 1994 Buick Century struck a southbound Scion Xb head-on, causing the Scion to rotate 180 degrees, which was then hit by a southbound Jeep Cherokee. The extensive response at the scene closed the road down for more than an hour.

A husband and wife in the Scion had non-life threatening injuries, while the female driver of the Jeep and her 8-year-old son each sustained a broken arm, among other injuries.

All four were taken to Erlanger hospital in Chattanooga. Dooley was conscious after the crash, according to Gideon. He died prior to being extricated from the vehicle, likely because internal injuries.
