The $98 million project will once again include more classrooms, laboratories, barns and a horse-performance center.
The restored features are being financed outside of the normal bond-debt used to pay for most state buildings. Instead, the money comes from $5.6 million in donations, $2.5 million in reserves held by the veterinary hospital and a $8.2 million loan from the UGA Endowment and Loan Fund that will be repaid from fees paid to treat animals.
University System of Georgia Chancellor Hank Huckaby had given his support for the restored features in late November, but since the Board of Regents didn't meet last month, Tuesday was the first chance to formally approve the action.
