Of the exhibit that will be shown at Shorter, Lafferty said, “My paintings investigate themes of isolation and growth. Fish tanks, gardening, bomb shelters, islands, and ‘green’ architectural design inspire them.”
Lafferty currently serves as assistant professor of painting and drawing at Jacksonville State University. He received the Bachelor of Arts degree in painting from Central Connecticut State University and the Master of Fine Arts degree in drawing and painting from the University of North Texas. His artwork has been exhibited in regional, national and international exhibitions, including locations in Dallas, Texas; Washington, Conn.; and Niigata, Japan. His artwork challenges the traditional boundaries of watercolor, crossing into the disciplines of new media, sculpture, and installation.
