Authorities arrested a man Monday after he was charged with felony kidnapping following an alleged domestic altercation, according to Floyd County Jail reports.

According to reports:

Kenneth Ladell Edwards, 31, of 10 Texas Ave., Rome, is accused of pushing a female on Jan. 3 when she attempted to call 911 and proceeded to strike her in the head several times and kick her when she was on the ground. A child was present.

He then allegedly dragged her by the hair outside to her vehicle and made her drive to Southern Pride Food Mart at 3124 Rockmart Road where he took her keys and went inside.

The female then got out of the car and left, escaping from the subject.

Edwards was charged with felony counts of kidnapping, theft by taking and terroristic threats and acts along with misdemeanor counts of third-degree cruelty to children and two counts of battery.

He remained in jail Monday night.
