Rome Braves: Hot Stove Gathering changed to lunchtime event; Atlanta Braves' pitcher Craig Kimbrel headlines guest list

The 2013 Hot Stove Gathering has been changed to a lunchtime event at the Forum on Monday January 28 from 11:30am – 1:30pm. Atlanta Braves closer Craig Kimbrel who was the 2011 National League Rookie of the Year is set to appear. Kimbrel had another successful year in 2012 and led the NL with 42 saves and became the first pitcher in history to strike out at least half the batters he faced during a season. He wore a Rome Braves uniform for 26 appearances compiling a 2-0 record with 14 saves during parts of the 2008 and 2009 seasons. Other players scheduled for the event include pitchers Gus Schlosser and Alex Wood. Schlosser was 13-7, 3.38 ERA at Lynchburg last season helping the team win the Carolina League championship. Second round draft pick from the University of Georgia Alex Wood had a fine season in Rome going 4-3, 2.22 ERA.

Fans can enjoy an “all you can eat” gourmet ballpark fare lunch including hot dogs, chili dogs, slaw dogs, and much more. There will be a question and answer opportunity and autograph session beginning at noon that will include: Kimbrel, Rome Braves General Manager Michael Dunn, Atlanta Braves Executive Vice President and General Manager Frank Wren, minor league training staff coordinator Mike Graus, Director of Minor League Operations Ronnie Richardson, Atlanta Braves third base coach Brian Snitker, Schlosser, Wood, and Atlanta broadcaster Jim Powell. Additional guests soon to be announced. Frank Wren begins his sixth year as the club’s executive vice president and general manager and 14th overall with the Braves. Brian Snitker will mark his seventh season as Atlanta’s third base coach and tenth overall in three stints with the Braves’ major league coaching staff. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door and can be purchased at the Rome Braves ticket office and the Forum. With each ticket purchased, fans receive a special gift bag.

The Rome Braves open the season on April 4th in Savannah. The home opener is April 6th at State Mutual Stadium versus the Savannah Sand Gnats.
