Brothers Jim and Joe Howell have opened Broad Street Fitness Center, 108 Broad Street, in downtown Rome.

Jim Howell said they had an empty building on Broad Street and decided that the fitness center would be a good fit for the property in the Cotton Block.

It’s all new equipment, Nautilus and PowerTec as far as the weight lifting part and for our cardio we have the NordicTrac Commercial,” Jim Howell said. The NordiTrack equipment is fitted with a device that allows the user to be jogging or running using a Google MapQuest device. “You can be running in Cave Spring or France,” Howell said.

The gym is open for members only and a typical member-ship is $30 a month. “We have some discounts for people who sign a years contract,” Howell said.

Currently the Broad Street Fitness Center has two employees who are able to help clients with personal training pro-grams. He said that either he or his brother is generally in the building during daytime hours.

The center is a 24-hours access operation. For additional information about the facility, Howell can be reached at 706-235-7875.
