On behalf of the Junior Service League of Rome, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the Rome and Floyd County community for their tremendous support of our annual Poinsettia Sale. I am pleased to note that in the 10th year of this annual holiday sale, we were once more able to exceed our goal through the sale of over 2,800 plants for a total of $40,566.

Monies from this sale will provide invaluable support for our League 4 Learning School Supplies program, which provides school supplies for over 2,200 students in the Rome City and Floyd County Schools, as well as other projects benefitting the women and children of Rome and Floyd County. None of this could have been possible without the support and generosity of this wonderfully giving community.

As we move into the New Year, we are also kicking off our 36th Junior Service League of Rome Follies. Since 1940, the women of the Junior Service League, along with talented members of the community, have sung, tapped, danced and acted their hearts out for the singular purpose of providing quality entertainment while raising funds that have literally touched every corner of the community.

We are excited to host the Follies on Feb. 1 and 2 at 8 p.m. in the Rome City Auditorium. It will be a wonderfully entertaining event with many friends, colleagues, and neighbors taking center stage in a production called “As Seen on TV.” I hope you will join us one of these evenings in celebration of our great community.

Lastly, you will notice a new look for the League as we advertise the Follies and other upcoming events.

We have a new logo to coincide with the New Year. After 79 years, we felt that, like many of us, the logo needed a bit of a fresh face and a design that was more reflective of the community and constituency we represent. The logo, as you will note, is a tower that represents Rome’s own Clocktower with the bricks in the base of the tower representing the primary mission of the League which remains the same after 79 years: providing volunteers, financial support, education, and service to the women and children of need in the Rome and Floyd County area(s).

While our look might have changed a bit, our mission and commitment to the people of this community has not changed. Thank you again for your continued and generous support. We simply could not do the work we do in the League without your partnership.
