The Georgia Highlands women’s basketball team has made a number of lengthy road trips during their inaugural season.

On Saturday, the Lady Chargers had a very short one.

Traveling across to the Winthrop-King Centre on the Shorter University campus, the Lady Chargers earned a 77-44 victory over local rival Georgia Northwestern Technical College.

GHC was led by Shakierya McClendon’s 26 points, followed by Amber Curtis with 13 and Seandre Lee with 11.

The Lady Chargers took control early and never looked back in winning their 18th game of the season.

GHC returns to action on Wednesday, hosting South Georgia Tech. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m. and the men’s game will follow at 7:30 p.m.
