WSB-TV reports Garcia Venson was found guilty on eight counts of battery late Friday. Prosecutors say he beat trooper Kimberly Davis with her own gun after she shot him in a confrontation at the end of a high-speed chase in 2010.
Venson's defense lawyers argued at his trial that he attacked the trooper only after she threatened to kill him when his hands were up where she could see them.
Venson will be sentenced at a later date. He faces up to 80 years in prison.
Davis says she feels the trial's outcome shows "that I was doing my job all along."
