CEDARTOWN — Replacing the county’s aging and deteriorating culverts continues to grab the attention of Polk’s Board of Commissioners.

The project, launched in 2011, was discussed at a recent board retreat.

Initial plans included replacing culverts on Brewster Field, Hampton, Pleasant Hill, Taylorsville-Aragon and John Redding roads. Board members approved Southern Engineers and Surveying, Inc. to design these culverts.

The work on John Redden and Brewster Field roads has already begun.

The cost of replacing the culverts is estimated at $300,000, which will be paid for by SPLOST funds.
