CUMMING, Ga. (AP) — The search for a missing boater on Lake Lanier northeast of Atlanta is expected to resume Thursday.

Sgt. Greg Colson of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources says crews suspended the search around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday due to wind. He tells The Times of Gainesville resumed the search at 9 a.m. Thursday.

They've searching for the man since late Monday, when a boat was spotted going in circles with no one aboard, eventually running out of gas. Authorities say the man was last seen fishing from the boat Monday night.

Searchers have focused their efforts near the spot where the boat was discovered, which is off Lanier Beach South Road.

Authorities said the 47-year-old man's name is being withheld at the request of family members.
