Allen Cravey, assistant chief of the Albany Fire Department, said most of the flooding occurred in lower areas of three roads and in the small community of Acree, east of Albany.
The Albany Herald reports that some residents in flooded homes were able to enter and leave their houses without danger to themselves. Other homes were unoccupied.
However, fire officials brought a flat-bottom motor boat to the scene Wednesday in case it was needed for rescues.
At one point, a rescuer waded to a house known to be occupied, but residents there said it was still possible to get out from the home's rear entrance and they declined help.
