The Floyd County Water Department will be working on the lines between 2287 and 2345 Burnett Ferry Road daily, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., beginning Monday.
The Georgia Department of Transportation closed a nearby portion of the road last month while crews were realigning Mays Bridge Road with the new West Rome Bypass.
Work on the water lines is expected to continue through next Friday but the road closure could be renewed on Feb. 25 if necessary. A release from the county suggested motorists use Horseleg Creek Road or Radio Springs Road to get around the closure.
The relocation of Mays Bridge Road is part of a 5.478 mile project to widen and reconstruct the West Rome Bypass, beginning south of the Coosa River and extending to north of Ga. 20 in Floyd County.
Work on this project began early November 2011 and the entire project is scheduled to be completed by the end of March 2015, at a construction cost of close to $43 million.
