Florida man charged with forgery

A Florida man wanted in two instances where fake checks were cashed at a local bank was in the Floyd County Jail on Thursday.

According to the jail reports:

Charles Earl Abney Jr., 52, of 6945 Morse Ave., Apt. 326, Jacksonville, Fla., was charged with two counts of felony first-degree forgery.

Abney allegedly passed two counterfeit checks at the Regions Bank, 400 Turner McCall Blvd., last July with intent to defraud the bank.

Both were payable to him, with one in the amount of $1,995.17 and the other for $1,780.
