After opening the season with two straight wins, the Lady Vikings lost to Ferrum College, 12-7, at Ford Field.
Berry’s Elizabeth Flatt scored two goals, and Blair Shupenko also had one goal and one assist for the Lady Vikings (2-1).
Ferrum’s Lauren Blankenship, however, received the offensive laurels for the day with five goals.
“Ferrum deserves all the credit,” said Berry head coach Shaun Williamson. “They played hard and we did not.”
In the first half, the game was tied 4-4 before Ferrum scored three of the last four goals to make it 8-5 at the break.
Shupenko cut the deficit to 9-7 with 15:27 remaining but Blank-enship answered by scoring the game’s last three goals.
The Lady Panthers slowed down Kristan Dziurzynski, who had just one goal after averaging seven-per-game in Berry’s first two outings.
Berry’s goaltender Taylor Martin made six saves.
The Lady Vikings next travel to California for three games, beginning with Saturday’s match-up at Chapman University at 9 p.m.
