Memorial services for a Rome man killed this week in Florida are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday.

According to the Florida Times-Union, Anthony Blake Bannister, 20, died Tuesday after he was shot in a Walmart parking lot in Jacksonville, Fla.

The shooting happened about 8:10 p.m. Tuesday, the Times-Union reported. Bannister and another man were inside a silver Chevrolet Impala when a third man approached on foot. That person may have gotten into the car before shots were fired.

Bannister was driven to a nearby gas station and then to a hospital, where he later died, the paper reported. The shooting remains under investigation by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Bannister was born in Rome on Nov. 20, 1992. He graduated in 2011 from Chattooga High and was pursuing a master welder certification in Jacksonville.

The memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bannister’s family home in Summerville.
